Yes it noctilucent cloud time, again.  It is at this time of year that you can see some very interesting cloud phenomena.  These are really high clouds in the upper atmosphere. These babies are very much higher than your transatlantic jet planes.  Amazing to watch after sunset where they are illuminated underneath by the Sun's rays. There is some suggestion that they are becoming more frequent.

Try and photograph them.  I shall be awarding points for the best photos.  And what do points make?  Exactly.  So don't waste these summer evenings watching boring DVDs or TV soaps; no get out and have a look for this interesting spectacle.

There was a nice photo shown last week on BBC1 TV and used as the back drop to Kaddy Lee-Preston's weather forecast.

It seems to me that the difficult part here is to know when you have seen them and not to get confused with other cloud types.
