RULES FOR

SHOWJUMPING FOR RIDERS WITH DISABILITIES.

 

Until further notice all Para Equestrian Show Jumping Competitions shall be NATIONAL COMPETITIONS.

The Organising Country may invite competitors from other Nations to participate.

1) Classes.

a)  2 rounds, (BSJA Table A7) . Clear Rounds to go into drawn jump off – Speeds 300 to 325mpm.

b)  One round against the clock (to include faults & time faults)( BSJA Table A4) – Speed 325mpm.

c)  If Blind or partially sighted riders compete in a class with other Riders with Disabilities, then they will jump first over a lower course height.

2) Course heights

National Competitions

a)  60cms to 1.05m. – Maximum number of fences 8 to include one double combination.

b)  60 to 90cms, to be used for Blind  and Visually Impaired riders. Maximum number of fences may include a double combination.

3) Penalties

Knockdown………………………………           4 Faults

Fall of Competitor………………………        Elimination

4) Time Penalties.

For every commenced second in excess

Of the time allowed……………………….      1 Fault

For every rebuild of a fence disturbed

by a disobedience. ………………………..     4 seconds  added to the time.

BLIND RIDERS

(a)                         Those who are 100% Blind to be allowed a lead Horse. Those who are 95% Blind have the option to have a lead horse.  Chief Steward/Steward to check IPEC ID (International Para Equestrian Classification Identity Card) card.

(b)                          If the lead horse knocks a fence down, clock is stopped while fence rebuilt before continuing , and fence retaken.

(c)                          Chief Steward or Steward (National Competitions) to ensure collecting ring safety/availability during “warm up”

JUDGES - COURSE BUILDERS

(a)                       National.  To be Judges & Course Builders accredited by the National Equestrian Federation  of the Country organising the Competitions, eg BSJA Judges/Course Builders for the UK.

COLLECTING RING

Safety is paramount., special times for Blind Riders. Space will be required for them. Steward to be present during warm up.

In Grades 1 & II  the trainer &/or another person may work the horse for 20 minutes, but not the 15 minutes before the rider goes into the arena. Keep record of times.

TACK

The tack and compensating aids used will concur with the entry on the IPEC ID Card, and be inspected by Chief Steward/Stewards, before the rider goes to the collecting ring to “warm up”

Hosting country’s National Federation rules will apply when required.

COMPETITIONS

National

Have rules available for centres putting on classes, if Para Equestrian Riders are riding in an Intro Class (BSJA) the Riders must jump before the able bodied riders, and have the warm up area to themselves. A steward to officiate.

HORSES

If a horse is loaned at any competition it is to be considered as an “own horse” for the duration of the show.

A nation/rider using a horse or pony loaned by the host, are responsible for all expenses associated with that horse/pony.
