This is the first show of its kind where Para Equestrian riders can compete in
all disciplines Show Jumping, Dressage and Combined training.
FEI Para Equestrian hopes to make jumping a Paralympic Games Sport in the future More nations will have to be involved before this can happen. Riders with disabilities have been requesting show jumping competitions for several years. Draft rules have been written.
France runs its own Para competitions and hold Championships each year at the FEI CCI Jumping World Cup Event in Bordeaux. Para riders from Belgium and other nations around the world compete at present in able bodied jumping competitions.

Tony has attended Para Jumping Competitions in France with riders from Great Britain, over the last three years. There are two different heights within the classes based on impairment, and competitions are run under modified National Rules of the country where the competition takes place. It is hoped that some French and Belgium riders will come over to compete at competitions this year.
Other nations are also welcome.
Included in most schedules are classes for blind riders. These riders walk the course with the rider who will be on the lead horse, the blind rider will feel each jump. When jumping the round the blind rider follows the lead horse about 3 to 4 paces behind, the lead rider will call the direction – left or right- and the number of strides before the jump. Should the lead horse knock the jump down, the bell rings, the clock is stopped, the fence is replaced and after the bell the lead rider will retake the fence followed by the blind rider..
