All interested are invited to this event.  You are welcome to bring your telescope(refractors are preferable) and a piece of card for projecting the Sun's image.  Chris will explain all about the techniques of solar observing.  Don’t worry if you do not have a telescope Chris will have two dedicated solar telescopes for all to use.  Paper and pencils would also be useful.

Quadrantid meteor shower. Radiates from Bootes and could get up to 120 per hour.  Meet at the Dark Site at 8 pm and bring warm clothing and a chair.  Sorry this has been cancelled through bad weather

14th December  CANCELLED due to poor weather~ Solar Workshop, at the De La Warr Pavilion, with Chris Woodcock

Three intrepid  astronomers, Chris, David and Simon ventured to the De La Warr and instead of looking for sun spots spent an amusing half hour trying to spot the Sun.  Yes the Earth's nearest star had gone awol.  Surely it was somewhere over the sea.   Thick and persistent cloud meant that this event was unsuccessful.  They took refuge in the De La Warr for a warm up and a snack before returning home.  We will try to arrange this event again, hopefully when the weather is kinder.

Chris will hold a practical workshop at the De La Warr pavillion from 13.30 on the 14th (weather permitting) and demonstrate solar imaging and projection. Members and non members welcome. Bring your telescope if you have one and a piece of white card or stiff paper.

12th December CANCELLED through bad weather ~ Geminids Meteor Shower with Simon Allen and Chris Woodcock

All welcome and meeting at the Dark Site at 20.00 (8 pm) Simon and Chris will lead the search for the Geminids meteors. Come with warm clothing and a chair would be advisable

29th November ~ Solar Workshop with Chris Woodcock This event has been cancelled due to cloud cover

Chris will hold a practical workshop at the De La Warr pavillion from 13.00 to 16.30 on the 29th (weather permitting) and demonstrate solar imaging and projection. Members and non members welcome. Bring your telescope if you have one and a piece of white card or stiff paper.

16th November

Chris is organising a Leonid meteor watch at the Dark Site on the evening (8.00 pm start) of the 16th November. Come with warm clothing and a comfortable chair for a relaxing evening ~ the weather created havoc as this event was first on then off and back on.  A few made it to the Dark Site. The cloud did not clear sufficiently. A few sporadic meteors were observed but no Leonids seen.
